There would be many struggles to come against those in charge of the club – we were calling them Wigs by then, I think, as calling them Spivs got you legal letters!
But Charles Green and his group had managed to get us registered to play in the League and Cups and so we entered the League Cup in it’s early rounds.

We took our spots up on the famous Hedge side of the ground – mostly a beautiful day as I recall for a weather point of view – punters were bursting with happiness.
I had to check the team and scores as over the years that has dimmed – far overshadowed by the relief of actually playing the tie and knowing that whatever came next the club was secure. This beautiful old club over which we have all shared laughter and tears of both happiness and despair. Safe.
What a day to be alive.
